Some of the earliest confrontations Jesus had with the Pharisees revolved around religious rules. Religion tends to drift in the direction of rules. That makes it valuable to understand the distinctiveness of Christianity as being built on relationships rather than religion.
Looking at the life of Jesus through the eyes of those who were there provided Luke an opportunity to learn about our Savior. If we hope to grow at being like Jesus today we need to gain insight through his pen as well.
